West Bromwich Albion's final fixture in August sees Swansea City head to The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm).

The Baggies, who have recorded two victories and a draw so far in the second tier, will be hoping to extend their unbeaten league run to four games.

Visitors Swansea City drew 1-1 against rivals Cardiff City last weekend. They've won one, lost one and drawn one of their first three in the Sky Bet Championship.

The home team won both encounters in 2023/24, with the Baggies claiming a 3-2 triumph in August before going on to suffer a 1-0 reverse on New Year's Day.

WBA Matchday

The visitors

Swansea City will be targeting a top-half finish in the Sky Bet Championship this term.

The Swans are now into their seventh consecutive season in the second tier and have ended four of the previous six campaigns tenth or higher, earning a spot in the play-offs twice.

Saturday's visitors have had a mixed start to 2024/25 in the league, losing 1-0 at Middlesbrough on the opening day, beating Preston 3-0 in their first home game and drawing 1-1 in front of their own supporters against bitter rivals Cardiff City last Sunday.

There was disappointment for them on Wednesday night, as a much-changed XI suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Sky Bet League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Former Swindon Town and Notts County manager Luke Williams is tasked with achieving club targets this year. The 43-year-old Londoner was appointed on January 5, 2024 and has taken charge of 27 matches, winning 10, drawing five and losing 12.

One from the history books

The Baggies produced a stunning show to sweep Swansea City aside at The Hawthorns in December 2019.

Goals from Semi Ajayi, Matheus Pereira and Hal Robson-Kanu in the opening period were followed up by efforts from Matty Phillips and Kyle Edwards after the break as Slaven Bilic's men ran out convincing 5-1 victors.

Sam Surridge scored for the visitors that particular afternoon.

The stats

Three of the last four fixtures between the two sides have ended 3-2, including both of the last two in B71. Swansea have claimed two of the three victories by that scoreline, with the Baggies recording a 3-2 triumph at The Hawthorns last season.

Only one of the last ten meetings has ended level - a 0-0 draw at the Swansea.com Stadium in March 2020. Albion have won four of the remaining nine encounters, with the Swans claiming victory in the other five.

Josh Maja heads into matchweek four as the Sky Bet Championship's top goalscorer. The Baggies No.9 has struck four times in three matches, with all four of his efforts coming away from home.

The visitors have won just one of their last seven away league games (D3, L3), defeating Huddersfield Town 4-0 back in April. The Swans have won two of their last three visits to The Hawthorns, though.

Swansea have lost just one of their last six games against the Albion (W5) - a 3-2 defeat in the West Midlands in August 2023.
