Albion Women suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon, losing 1-4 to Nottingham Forest at the Valley Stadium.
Both teams went into the game having won their opening two matches, but this was a stern test for the Baggies against a Forest side who finished top of the table last campaign.
Head Coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still made two changes from the FAWNL Cup victory over Derby, replacing Lizzie Bennett-Steele and Abi Loydon with Kate Evans and Phoebe Warner.
However, the visitors were clinical in the first half and held a two-goal advantage at the interval - Freya Thomas scoring an excellent long distance strike before Charlotte Greengrass’ close-range poke.
Greengrass then added another midway through the second period as she took advantage of a defensive mix-up to slot home.
During an action-packed final 10 minutes Hannah George saw a penalty saved and the hosts did manage to grab a consolation via Meesha Dudley-Jones’ brilliant individual effort.
But Forest scored the final goal in stoppage time to seal all three FAWNL Northern Premier Division points, Mai Moncaster chipping Lucy Jones for their fourth of the afternoon.
