Albion Women exited the Birmingham County Cup at the semi-final stage following a 3-2 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.
Jenny Sugarman’s side were looking to get revenge on their Black Country rivals after they came out on top in the league fixture 10 days earlier.
But it was a difficult start for the Baggies, and they fell two-goals behind inside the opening seven minutes – Tammi George’s early brace stunning the hosts.
Back came Albion, though, and the determined home team were level before half-time thanks to Lizzie Bennett-Steele’s finish and a looping Maz Mahmood strike.
It could have gone either way during a hotly contested second period – however, in the end it was Wolves who found a winning goal 19 minutes from time via Destiney Toussaint.
The Baggies turn their attention back to the league now with a trip to Stoke City’s Bet365 Stadium this Sunday (ko 2pm). Supporters can book their tickets one online at tickets.stokecityfc.com.
