Albion Under-21s will compete in the newly-formed National League Cup competition this season.
The tournament sees 32 teams split into four groups of eight, where an equal number of Premier League 2 and National League sides compete against each other to obtain the top two places.
Each team will play four group-stage fixtures in a non-league versus academy format. Those in the qualification spots will progress to the knockout stages of the competition, which entail standalone fixtures in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final.
Richard Beale’s team have been drawn in Group D alongside fellow PL2 sides from Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, where they’ll play against National League outfits Sutton United, Dagenham and Redbridge, Ebbsfleet United and Braintree Town.
All matches will be played at their non-league counterparts’ stadiums, with the young Baggies’ first test coming at the Kuflink Stadium against “the Fleet” on Tuesday, October 1 (ko 7pm).
