Albion continued their encouraging start to pre-season with a 3-1 win over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon.
In torrential first-half conditions at the club’s training ground, the Baggies took an early lead through Conor Townsend’s excellent chipped finish inside the area.
Carlos Corberán’s men almost doubled their lead a couple of times, Jed Wallace forcing Shrewsbury’s goalkeeper into two good stops and Adam Reach striking the woodwork.
Instead, Town managed to find a leveller via Ryan Bowman’s near-post flick shortly after the half-hour mark.
But it was Albion who were in front at the break – Wallace delivering a pinpoint cross and Reach volleying home.
Head Coach Corberán made 10 changes to his team as they emerged for the second period, and they nearly extended their advantage when substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante headed onto the post.
As the conditions brightened up, Albion’s third and final goal arrived 22 minutes from time – Jayson Molumby hammering an unstoppable effort past Harry Burgoyne to round-off a good run-out.
The Baggies are next in action on Tuesday evening against Cheltenham Town at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium. Ticket information for that game can be found here.
