Caleb Taylor says Albion's young side will have gotten a lot from their experience against Forest Green Rovers, despite their defeat in the pre-season encounter.
Carlos Corberán named a youthful side for the pre-season fixture in Gloucestershire with one eye on Saturday's clash with Bolton Wanderers.
However, Taylor believes that despite missing out on a result, he and his teammates will have gained from the experience.
"We’re disappointed losing, but I think we got quite a lot out of it." He said.
"Considering we’ve got quite a young team against a good League Two side, it’s given us a lot of experience.
"Also, playing 90 minutes is good for the season ahead and getting ready for the start of the campaign.
"Even though it was a really young side today, the gaffer is going to have to use some of us this year and these are the games to give our all and take our chance and give ourselves the best chance possible to impress him."
Taylor played the full 90 minutes of the encounter, in which goals from a trialist and Rovers captain Dominic Bernard ensured the hosts claimed victory.
The young defender said that he's embraced the pre-season challenge working under the boss, having spent last season on loan at Cheltenham Town.
"Physically, pre-season has been hard, but that’s what pre-season is all about. I’ve learned quite a lot already and I feel really good going into the season.
"I’m going to try everything I can to play in the Championship, that’s my goal, to help this club and help my teammates and do well this season."
