Callum Styles has praised Albion’s defensive unit following their 1-1 draw against Luton Town on Friday evening.
The Baggies earned a hard-fought Sky Bet Championship point at Kenilworth Road after Josh Maja’s first half backheel was cancelled out by a Hatters equaliser in the second period.
And, talking to WBA TV, left-back Styles believes the team can be pleased with their performance from back to front, despite not quite managing a victory.
“The first game as a back four, against a side that has just been relegated from the Premier League, I think we did really well,” said Callum.
“With the long balls, with the height of the team and the pressure they put on to us, we dealt with it.
“Obviously, we’re all disappointed not to hold on. But you have to respect this game tonight.
“In the Championship, coming to places like this, it’s difficult to get a win. So at least the minimal level is to get a point. And we tried to nick that win at the end.
“Josh Maja’s goal has got to be a catalyst for us. It was a nice goal from him, and Karlan (Grant) did excellently as well.
“That’s what we need from the forward players. We just need that little bit of spark. They’ve got it - they’ve got the talent - and it’s just about putting it onto the pitch. They did that tonight.
“It’s unlucky that we keep drawing. We just need that bit of luck in the final third. I think it will come but we just need to be patient.”
