Callum Styles says he jumped at the opportunity to sign for West Bromwich Albion and insists he’s determined to be a success at The Hawthorns.
The 24-year-old, who also plays international football for Hungary, has signed a four-year contract at the club following a move from Sky Bet League One side Barnsley.
Styles has plenty of Sky Bet Championship experience behind him having represented the Tykes, as well as Millwall and Sunderland, at second-tier level.
Callum believes he has the necessary attributes to contribute positively to the group and spoke of his delight at securing a new permanent home.
He said: “I know there was interest at the start of the window. When I heard that West Bromwich Albion were interested, I just wanted to jump at the opportunity.
“Things went a little bit quiet, but then a couple of days ago it reignited and now I’m here.
“Looking at last season, the club finished inside the play-offs. It’s a big club and it should be in the Premier League. The ambition for everyone is to get back there. I couldn’t turn an opportunity like this down.
“I think some of my best attributes are being good on the ball, driving forward with the ball and trying to make things happen for my team. I’ve got good energy and I think my positional awareness and understanding of the game will help the team a lot.
“I can play in a couple of positions. I’d like to knuckle down a set position, but you might see me playing out on the left side as an attacking wing-back, as well as in the middle of the park where I’ve played all my life.
“I’d like to put my case across in any of those positions and hopefully start as many games as possible.
“I’ve been looking for that permanent home having been out on loan in the last couple of seasons. I’m buzzing to be here and finally come to place which will be my permanent home.
“I’m going to crack on, try and force my way into the team and try my best to be successful as an individual and as part of a team.”
