Kyle Bartley praised his teammates’ work rate, energy and quality in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United.
The Baggies produced another impressive display and secured a hard-fought victory in an entertaining game at The Hawthorns.
And Bartley, who captained Albion for the second successive week after donning the armband at Old Trafford, was proud of each and every one of the players.
“It feels amazing,” said Bartley.
“We didn’t play as well as we have been doing but the most important thing tonight was the three points and we managed to get them.
“We spoke before the game about showing the same work rate and desire that we have done in the last two games. I thought every single player gave their absolute all.
“We felt like the luck had gone against us a bit in recent weeks and tonight we rode our luck, but over the course of the season it tends to balance itself out.
“There’s a lot of lads in there who are absolutely knackered and that’s what it takes to win games in this league.
“Conor’s a great lad, great player and we talk about work rate and he’s right up there every single week in terms of distance, high-intensity runs and is a breath of fresh air.
“It’s important to get a clean sheet and we know we have to remain solid. I feel like we’ve done well over the last few weeks to limit the chances.
“We’ve relied on Sam [Johnstone] and he’s been absolutely brilliant over the last few months and that’s what it takes to win games in this league.”
