Carlos Corberán believes Albion did enough to at least take a point home from their Sky Bet Championship clash at Watford on Sunday afternoon.
Despite a spirited performance, the Baggies fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Hornets – a result which brought to an end their 12-match unbeaten run.
Vakoun Bayo’s brace had the hosts 2-0 up before the hour. Jayson Molumby pulled one back late on, but Corberán’s men were unable to find a leveller.
The boss said: “Arriving at half time losing that game was difficult to accept because, in general, we were controlling the game.
“It’s true they had a couple of possibilities in transition when we were losing some of the balls in the middle and they were using the speed that they have to create danger.
“We were creating possibilities, especially when you look at the last chance we had at the end of the first half. We could have scored and changed the result at that moment.
“They started the second half better than us. The action of the goal is a difficult one because I thought Josh Maja had the advantage and they made a foul, but the referee didn’t see it the same way. They scored a goal from this action, which made it more difficult.
“Josh Maja said he received a foul. It’s hard because it’s difficult to accept, but I know the referee would’ve made the decision trying to be fair.
“We didn’t stop in any moment and we tried to score the two goals, but we couldn’t do more to draw the game.
“Maybe a point today would’ve been the right result, but this has not been the case. At some moments we would’ve been complaining about the draws, but today, we would have valued it a lot.
“The players were not motivated by an unbeaten run. They are motivated by winning games and that’s what we try to do all of the time. They are focused on ways to see how we can win games.”
