Carlos Corberán says the key to Albion’s eye-catching victory over Ipswich Town was to be relentless and not take their foot off the gas.
The Baggies inflicted just a second league defeat of the season on the Tractor Boys, with Darnell Furlong and Grady Diangana on target on what was a special night at the Shrine.
Albion are now unbeaten in six on home soil and have moved up to fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table as a result of the three points.
And the boss was full of praise for his players’ efforts and believes the “satisfaction” they are experiencing is a consequence of a really positive result.
Carlos said: “I don’t know if that was our best performance of the season or not, but it was certainly the necessary performance to achieve a positive result and the three points.
“I think the satisfaction we have today is the consequence of a very positive team performance.
“If I am honest, I don’t think the key today was scoring that early goal because before today, Ipswich had only lost one game. The game they lost was against Leeds in August. They were 12 unbeaten in the league.
“In the games since, I have watched them lose the first goal and maybe even the second goal, but they have then come back and scored goals and changed the scores and results. They have been losing games, but have then come back to win them.
“That’s why the key today was to not stop what we were trying to do in any moment of the game. We needed to be focused on ourselves and not in the moment of the result.
“Our goals show how important it is to dominate every single aspect of the game to be able to win games.
“If you attack well, but defend poorly, it’s not enough. If you defend well and then don’t attack well, it’s not enough. If you don’t press at the right time, every time, it’s not enough. If you don’t score from or defend the set-pieces well enough, then it’s not going to be enough.
“The more aspects you can dominate, the more options we are going to have to win games.
“I think, in the second-half, without having the ball as much as we did today and reducing the moments when Ipswich have the ball, it would have been very difficult to achieve the clean sheet or the three points.
“When you achieve clean sheets, it’s as a consequence of defending well and also keeping the ball and attacking well.”
