Carlos Corberán labelled Albion’s performance in their impressive 2-0 win over high-flying Middlesbrough on Saturday as “fantastic”.
The Baggies secured a welcome win thanks to Daryl Dike’s early first-half double – a triumph which ended Boro’s five-match victorious streak in the Sky Bet Championship.
Albion produced a stellar defensive display after racing into a two-goal lead and restricted their free-scoring visitors into only a couple of opportunities.
And the boss believes the three points were fully deserved at The Hawthorns.
Carlos said: “I think it was a deserved three points today.
“I think the performance of the team was fantastic and the players deserve what they managed to achieve today.
“I was watching a team that continued to grow into the game and was aggressive in the right moments to be aggressive.
“We scored two goals because the mentality of the players was to achieve a positive result today.
“It’s true that in the last ten minutes of the first half we didn’t manage certain situations as well as we could have done and that’s why they created some crossing and set-piece opportunities.
“But, the team tried to protect the advantage at every moment in the game. The players tried to perform well in attack and in defence.
“We played with a competitive mentality.
“The beginning of the first half especially was excellent because the team was creating plenty of chances.
“Dike, more than just the goals, was doing such a good job. The reward for his work today was the goals he managed to score.
“Of course, I am happy for all of the players but I cannot mention any player specifically. I have to mention the team as a whole because they were carrying out unbelievable work in order to claim the result.
“What I will say, is that Josh Griffiths’ contribution was important because he made a couple of very, very good saves.
“These players don’t need any more confidence because they have the mentality already to go for games.
“When things don’t go well we analyse everything and we face the difficulty in order to try and change things.
“We want to carry on growing as a team. This team is going to keep growing and going. We want to add the maximum number of points we can until the end of the season.”
