Carlos Corberán | It's been the perfect day

Carlos Corberán speaks to WBA TV after beating Blues

Carlos Corberán believes he’s experienced the perfect day after welcoming the safe arrival of his second son, Dario, as well as guiding Albion to three Sky Bet Championship points.

Dario Corberán was born less than 16 hours before the Baggies kicked-off against Birmingham City – an encounter they won 1-0 thanks to Andi Weimann’s late strike in front of the Brummie Road End.

The boss admitted it’s been a hectic period both personally and professionally, but says having a new member of the family and another win on the board is the best end to the week.

Carlos said: “Fortunately, everything with my wife and my son is very, very good. Everything has gone well.

“Dario, the new member of the family, understood the importance of that game. He wanted to watch and that’s why he came out quickly. He wanted to help us.

“I am very proud, because from the personal perspective, it’s a really important thing.

“The last week has been a demanding week. First of all we put a lot of motivation into preparing the game against Wolves. We knew how important that game was for our fans. Unfortunately we didn’t receive the result we wanted to achieve.

“After, the last week of the market is always important. You need to adapt to the changes of the situation, because something can always happen. You have to be ready to work to solve situations.

“We were also preparing for a game which we knew would be really important and really tough. Another derby in our stadium.

“Birmingham have very good players and they are playing very good football too.

“Of course, when you arrive to the game and it’s the day that you expect to have a new member of the family, you are not going to get the rest that you would like to have.

“It’s something very nice to have though and it’s been a good end to the week.

“It’s the perfect day. It’s true, the personal aspect has been very positive and the game has been positive too.

“In the Championship, you’re not always going to win three points having being much better than the opponent. You need to be able to win, even when the game is balanced.

“You can achieve this when your level of resilience, maturity and confidence is there. The players showed these values today. That’s why I’m pleased with the result that we have achieved today.”
