Carlos Corberán keen to change fortunes on the road

Carlos Corberán arrives at The Hawthorns on matchday

Carlos Corberán insists there’s a huge desire within the squad to “change the negative momentum” away from home.

The Baggies, who have suffered four straight defeats in all competitions on the road, visit the MKM Stadium on Friday night where they’ll face 16th-placed Hull City (ko 8pm).

The boss believes his side have been unlucky in some recent away displays, but also accepts Albion haven’t performed anywhere near well enough in others to take home any points.

And Corberán stressed the importance of claiming victories away from The Hawthorns, starting in East Riding of Yorkshire against the Tigers this weekend.

The Spaniard said: “It’s very, very important we start picking up victories away from home.

“Middlesbrough is part of the past and we are looking forward to the next game, which is Hull City on Friday night.

“We have to approach the game with the highest level of commitment, motivation and dedication if we want to achieve the result we want to achieve.

“In some of the away games we have performed well enough to achieve something better, but, in some of the games, we didn’t perform well enough to earn anything.

“In some of our recent away games we haven’t adapted well enough to the intensity or the tactical possibilities of the game.

“We have to learn from these situations and change this negative momentum away from home. We always have the motivation to go to our next game and improve on the things we didn’t do so well in the last match.

“Hull City are a very competitive and combative team.

“They have a clear way of playing. They have their way of attacking and defending, but we have our way too.

“We want to go there and pick up three points. That is our only intention.”
