Carlos Corberán revealed he was impressed by the maturity and professionalism on show during Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Rotherham United.
The Baggies brushed the Millers aside at The Hawthorns to record a fifth successive Sky Bet Championship victory, with goals coming from Jed Wallace, Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Albion looked comfortable throughout, dominating proceedings and chances, while restricting Rotherham to very limited bursts into their attacking third.
And Corberán praised the commitment on show from his players to see the job through in such a professional manner.
Carlos Said: “I think it was a professional and a mature performance from the team.
“We played the whole game with a high level of concentration.
“We created a chance in the first minute but we were unable to score, and after that, there was a period where the game went a little flat with lots of fouls and throws and goal-kicks.
“From about the 15th minute onwards, we managed to attack Rotherham and we dominated the game through until about the 30-minute mark.
“We managed to get the goal and after about the 30 or the 35-minute mark, we sat a little deeper to make sure we didn’t concede.
“We went into the second half hoping to avoid the periods where the team was defending more. We tried to be aggressive and really go for more goals to ensure we got the result we all wanted.
“I didn’t want the players to relax at any moment because the best way to protect your result is to go for the result you want and add more goals, not just be happy with the current scoreline and try to protect it.
“Fortunately we managed to get the second and third goals which really helped push us to the the win.
“Rotherham are a team who like to press a lot so we knew the game would be difficult, but we did also manage to find space in behind for runners.
“The first goal was excellent. The pass from Tom Rogic was excellent and so was the finish from Jed Wallace too.
“It’s always important to have players who are ready to help the team, whether they are starting or whether they are coming on from the bench.
“We have players who can come on and impact the game, whoever they are.
“We’ve managed to collect another clean sheet and it’s very, very important for us defend well. Every time to have a clean sheet you are giving yourself a great opportunity to get results.
“We are pleased with the clean sheet, but we’re not just going to be focused on defence or attack. We want to be better at both and work at them both collectively.”
