Carlos Corberán insists the incredible support both he and team receive from the club’s fans provides them with an “unbelievable” level of determination to succeed.
Over 20,000 Baggies have now bought season tickets for the 2024/25 campaign at The Hawthorns, which kicks off on Saturday lunchtime when Leeds United come to town (ko 12.30pm).
The boss believes West Bromwich Albion is a club which “never stops growing” and says the coaching staff and players are excited to get back to their B71 base and enjoy more special moments with the supporters this year.
Carlos said: “Like I always say, West Bromwich Albion Football Club never stops growing, it’s unbelievable.
“It’s growing because the fans never stop supporting the team, and every year they make an unbelievable effort, and the next year they go and make even more.
“This can only make you feel proud, not just me, but for everyone who works for the club because we know it gives you a level of responsibility and determination to compensate them for what they are giving to you. This is only ever a positive for us.
“We are just looking forward to being there Saturday with them in the stadium, enjoying the atmosphere that they are able to create.
“The last memory that I have of playing in our stadium was one I’ll never forget as a coach, because of how the fans received the team, how the fans were supporting the team and I’ll never forget the moment that they managed to create.
“We’re just looking forward to replicating that and living in those special moments. We want to make every game that we play at home a special one for us.”
Leeds United came from behind twice to claim a dramatic 3-3 draw with newly-promoted Portsmouth at Elland Road on the opening day.
They’ve lost two of their star players from last season – Archie Gray who joined Tottenham Hotspur and Crysencio Summerville who departed for West Ham United.
Despite that, Corberán still thinks Saturday’s guests are an outfit packed full of quality.
“In my opinion they have a very strong squad.
“Until now it’s true that they’ve lost some players, but I believe they’ll be focused on making changes to strengthen the squad.
“They have a very, very competitive squad. Some of the players that they have on the bench right now were Premier League players two years ago.
“That shows the size of their squad and the quality of the players within it.
“We enjoyed a very positive result against them at home last season, but it wasn’t the only positive result we had at The Hawthorns.
“The fans created that kind of atmosphere in many other games too. It’s true that we enjoyed that night but not only because it was Leeds, but because the fans created an atmosphere that they have done many times.
“It's about creating a level of togetherness. We can help the supporters and they supporters can help us. We're better when we're all together and I have seen this many times with the club.”
