Baggies boss Carlos Corberán says it’s crucial his side keep “fighting for every result” they want to try and achieve.
Albion are riding high on confidence heading into Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Rotherham United following a run of four successive victories.
Corberán’s men came from behind to beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday night, displaying clear signs of spirit and determination in abundance.
And the club’s head coach revealed winning more matches and building even more momentum is their “main motivation” at the present time.
Carlos said: “It’s always so important to fight for every result you want to try and achieve.
“We need to learn from the things we have done well and not so well so far. We’ve earned some good results recently and I’m insisting that we carry on doing lots of things well on the pitch, but also to try and improve even more.
“We want to keep winning games and we want to keep building momentum. This is our main motivation.
“In my opinion, you cannot wait for the win in football to be able to have confidence. You have to have the confidence to play well and put together everything you work on in training into each game.
“Our level of commitment can mean more than our confidence levels. Both are really high for us right now, but we don’t want to settle for where we are.
“The more time that we can spend as a group talking about ideas and practising ways to solve problems the better. We all want to try and be on the same page to be able to share the same ideas.
“If the ideas are the right ones, it can help the team even further.
“We are working hard as a coaching group to make the right decisions and share the best ideas with the players in order to try and keep improving the squad and the results.
“We want to create a collective knowledge and a collective commitment.”
This weekend’s encounter with the Millers will be Albion’s first home game since mid-November when they secured a 2-0 triumph over Stoke City.
Rotherham United made a strong start to the campaign, but have since hit a tricky period and have taken just one win from their last eight matches.
Corberan says he’s expecting a very competitive test from a team who’ll be determined to swing momentum back in their favour.
“For me, the only pressure that exists in football is the motivation to win football games.
“We have to go out onto the pitch and show our desire to win the game. We have to manage each situation we find ourselves in in each game we play.
“I don’t expect any type of easy game in any competition. After victories, draws or defeats, every game in the Championship is competitive and difficult.
“Every game demands the best from us on the pitch.
“Rotherham are a very competitive team and they’ll be disappointed that they haven’t achieved the results that they wanted to achieve recently.
“Every team wants to swing momentum back in their favour when things haven’t gone their way.
“I’m expecting a very competitive game against a team I know will play with a high level of aggression, with and without the ball.
“We need to know how to manage the game and we’ll be working on that in training.”
