Cedric Kipre says he and his teammates enjoyed Tuesday night’s win at Plymouth - and hailed the whole team for helping to keep a crucial clean sheet.
The central defender netted the opening goal as the Baggies earned a 3-0 victory in Devon, with Mikey Johnston and Tom Fellows also getting on the scoresheet.
During a post-match chat, Cedric reflected on his strike, Albion’s impressive second-half showing and a fantastic following from more than 1,000 travelling supporters.
Kipre said: “When you manage to get a clean sheet and score three goals as well, away from home, of course we enjoyed it.
“We felt very in control during the second half. Everyone was focused, and we created many more chances than in the first half as well.
“At the back we were confident - me, Erik (Pieters), Conor (Townsend) and Darnell (Furlong). It was a very good performance.
“We needed that first goal to be able to score others. When the chance came, I knew I would score. I just took my time and shot with my left foot.
“As a defender it’s very important to score goals from set pieces. The staff have been on me, it’s something I’m looking to add to my game. I had been lacking this season, with only one goal.
“The clean sheets are very important for confidence. They show that we have been solid. Alex (Palmer) has been great, the whole back line has been great. It also starts with the strikers because the pressing begins there. It is down to all of the team.
“Hopefully it is a catalyst. It was a very good, controlled win. We need to do that in the next game, which is another tough one away from home.
“Plymouth is very far, so when you see the away stand full, it gives you extra energy and a boost. They were amazing all game and we are very grateful to them.”
