Delphi Cole | We need to earn FA Cup progress

Recent signing Delphi Cole insists Albion need to take confidence into their FA Cup clash with Lye Town Ladies if they're to earn their place in the next round of the competition.

The Baggies host Lye in the first round proper of the famous competition, and will be eyeing a victory which would see them get their run in the cup off to the best start possible.

Cole insists that the Baggies will need to earn that right when they take on their nearby neighbours.

She said": "The FA Cup is a big one, we’ve got to go into it with confidence in order to get the win."

"The FA Cup is a huge competition and there’s a lot of teams in it that we want to challenge ourselves against, but we have to earn that chance."

Cole rejoined Albion earlier this season, having made 11 appearances for the club on-loan last term, and she's hailed the environment created by boss Siobhan Hodgetts-Still and her coaching staff.

"I’m loving it, the environment around the club is so good and being in the first team is what I need. Being at the club and having the right people around you is really important." She said.

"The club’s environment and the people, really getting back into my football, getting those important minutes is what really drove me to come back. It’s a great club.

"I’ve known Siobhan from a couple of years ago, so when she approached me, I knew it was the right thing to do. I’m really enjoying my time here so far."

Cole has so far notched twice following her return, with those strikes coming against Wolves and Leafield Athletic, but she says its victories which she's aiming for to help cement her place in the starting XI amongst strong competition from her teammates.

"There’s a lot of competition for places in each position and it’s hard. You’ve got to work in training to make sure you get a starting spot.

"It’s good for me and it’s what I need, having not played very much beforehand, pushing for that spot and being allowed minutes and all that, it’s been really good.

"I want to get more goals hopefully and to see those good performances. We need lots of wins and we’ll have to play well to achieve those goals."

Albion Women host Lye Town on Sunday, November 12 at West Bromwich Albion Academy, B71 4LG (ko 1pm). Entry is free, but supporters should be aware there are both limited facilities and reduced parking on site.
