Albion's Sky Bet Championship clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday, March 11 will be the club's dedicated annual Foundation Day.
‘Football for All’ is this year’s chosen theme, recognising the many different footballing pathways regardless of ability at The Albion Foundation.
Foundation Day is the annual showpiece event for The Albion Foundation, the club’s official charity partner, providing the perfect opportunity for the Baggies to celebrate the important and inspirational work achieved by The Foundation in and around the Sandwell community.
Foundation staff will be scattered around the ground and the Fan Zone with donation buckets. We’re encouraging all fans to ‘Bring a Pound to the Ground’ for the encounter with the Terriers as we look to raise important funds to allow football to be accessible for all.
In the build-up to this year’s event, we’ll be highlighting a different level of the pathway each day from Mini Baggies to our Post-16 Programme, showcasing the positive impact The Albion Foundation has on its local community.
To kick-start fundraising, signed match-worn shirts from the club's game with Hull City are available at auction and you can get your hands on these by clicking here to place your bid.
Shirts from Albion’s Foundation Day clash with Huddersfield will also be available at auction in due course, with the auction closing on Sunday, March 19 for both sets of shirts. All proceeds will aid The Albion Foundation and ‘Football for All’.
On Foundation Day itself, we’ve got plenty of activities going on to mark Foundation Day 2023, with the Fan Zone hosting a signing session with former Baggies Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie.
A variety of interactive games will also be set up at the Fan Zone, such as an inflatable football darts board, 3v3 football, a penalty shootout and the Bache board challenge, with fans encouraged to make an optional donation.
The match shirts against Huddersfield will all have unique lettering next to the club badge, marking the special day, with a unique matchday programme also on sale to celebrate the ‘Football for All’ campaign.
Alongside the match-worn shirt auctions, you can also donate to The Albion Foundation via text message. All you need to do is text TAF and the amount you want to donate to 70470, for example TAF10 to donate £10. Donations can also be made via our JustGiving page.
A selection of participants from across the different pathways are also set to lead Carlos Corberán’s side out as mascots and flagbearers at The Hawthorns before taking part in a crossbar challenge at half-time on the pitch alongside Brunt and Odemwingie.
Finally, we’re also delighted to be joined by participants of the Baggies Cycle Challenge as they complete their 140-mile journey from Huddersfield to The Hawthorns.
Chris Brunt and co set off from The John Smith’s Stadium on Thursday, March 9 before cycling back to B71 in time for kick-off against The Terriers.
The participants will then complete a lap of honour of The Hawthorns at half-time to round off a day full of activities and fundraising for The Albion Foundation and Foundation Day 2023.
Don’t forget to ‘Bring a Pound to the Ground’ and remember to text TAF and the amount you want to donate to 70470, or visit our JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/albionfoundation
