The Albion Foundation welcomed 10 schools from across the Midlands area to the Academy Dome for the Premier League Primary Stars Girls Regional Qualifiers.
Schools representing Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Kidderminster Harriers, Port Vale, Shrewsbury, Stoke City, Walsall, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers all attended the Halfords Lane site for a day of football fun.
Teams wore the first-team kit of their respective professional football clubs, while the Premier League Trophy was also in attendance, Albion were represented by Yew Tree Primary School.
“We’ve had 10 schools and Community Club Organisations (CCOs) that have come down and competed in our football tournament,” Greg Warren, Senior PE & Classroom Interventions Coach. “They’ve had the opportunity to be part of some workshops with Hyett Education and Box Clever.
“It’s been a great day where they’ve been able to play lots of games in group formats and overall have had a fantastic day. We’ve had the Premier League Trophy here, as well as Rebaz, who’s a football freestyler, he’s been teaching the girls lots of football tricks.
“All of our CCOs and and schools have had a great time, it’s been a couple of years since we’ve hosted but we’ve enjoyed sharing the Premier League values in our workshops. We’re delighted with how things have gone.”

Regional finalists Kidderminster Harriers and Walsall will progress to the National Finals, which are set to be held at a Premier League stadium – but it wasn’t just the winners who enjoyed themselves.
“It’s been really good,” pupils representing Walsall said. “We’ve enjoyed being part of today.”
“I liked playing in our games, they were always quite good and we played against good competition,” pupils representing Wolves said.
“It’s been really fun,” a Birmingham City representing pupil said. “My favourite bit has been playing the games, and we’re about to do a workshop.”
“We’ve found it a challenge, but it’s been good,” pupils representing Albion said. “We’ve been enjoying playing football and trying to win some games.”
