Taylor Gardner-Hickman says he is “fully focused” on helping Albion’s PL2 side deliver another positive display when they travel to Fulham on Friday evening (ko 7pm).
The versatile Academy graduate was involved in first-team preparations for the 2021/22 season, featuring in several warm-up matches before a knee injury set him back.
Albion’s PL2 side kicked-off their campaign with a win, coming out 3-2 victors against Burnley on Monday night.
And as Gardner-Hickman looks to help the young Baggies pick up another three points in the capital, the 19-year-old is also hoping to push himself into first-team contention.
“I’m fully focused on the game tomorrow and doing my best for the team,” said Gardner-Hickman.
“The boys had a very good start against Burnley, so I’m hoping we can continue that against Fulham.
“It’s a very good bunch of lads and we’re very close off the field as well, which I think shows when we play together on the pitch.
“Playing with the first team this season has been brilliant for me personally. Unfortunately, I got injured during one of the pre-season games, but I’m looking to get back in contention and into the gaffer’s thoughts going forward.
“The new staff, and everyone involved in the first team knows how much we’re on it this season and it’s been a very exciting time for everyone at the club and, hopefully, it can continue.
“It’s inspiring seeing young players come through the ranks and because I’ve been at the academy from a young age, it’s extra special to be involved in the senior side.
“Hopefully I can do a job for the 23s and as a result, my performance can put me in with a chance of being involved with the first team in the games to come.
“We have each other’s back, we work hard for one another and we’ll need everyone to get a positive result on Friday.”
