Gianluca Frabotta said he was looking forward to getting settled in and starting his Albion career after penning a three-year contract at The Hawthorns.

The 25-year-old joined from Italian outfit Juventus on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the Baggies’ seventh signing of the summer.

And in his first chat since arriving, the left-back admitted it was the challenge of playing in the Sky Bet Championship - combined with what he knew about Albion - that convinced him to link-up with Carlos Corberán’s men.

“West Bromwich Albion was an attractive option for me because I know this is a great club with a great history,” explained Gianluca.

“Albion play in a very competitive division. I believe it’s a more competitive division than others I have played in before so I am very excited to be here and for this challenge.

“This will be the first time I have played in England and I am very excited to start my journey here. I know the first match is only a few days away and I would love to be involved in it.

“Everyone in Italy watches the Premier League and English football in general. The dream for me here would be to reach the Premier League with this club. It’s a dream for me to play in England and experience this football.

“I’ve had a difficult few years because I have had to go out on loan a few times and a lot of things have changed. I’ve been in lots of different places.

“One of the reasons I chose West Bromwich Albion was because of the opportunity to be here and be settled for three years. I want to be part of a long-term project and I am very motivated for this.

“It’s important for me to be part of something bigger and not just something for a small amount of time.

“I have been at places for a short amount of time and now I want something bigger and I’m happy that opportunity will be here at Albion.

“I love to have the ball at my feet and I am comfortable in possession. I like to defend, but I also love to get forward down the left side.

“I would say I am good at providing assists and delivering good balls into the box and final third.

“I have seen the stadium and I can’t wait to experience playing at The Hawthorns. I was impressed by the beauty of The Hawthorns and I felt emotional when thinking about the fans cheering for the team and for me.

“It was another reason for coming here, to experience that English fan culture.”
