Harry Whitwell’s stellar form has earned him a nomination for the September 2024 PL2 Player of the Month.
The midfielder made a fine start to the new season, scoring five goals in three Premier League 2 matches last month - which included a match-winning brace to seal a 2-1 comeback win against Chelsea.
Oxford-born Harry’s impressive performances came after he was handed his first senior start under head coach Carlos Corberán during Albion’s Carabao Cup clash with Fleetwood Town in August.
And not long after his maiden inclusion in the first-team starting XI, the 18-year-old penned a contact extension until the summer of 2026.
Whitwell is up against Manchester City duo Farid Alfa-Ruprecht and Jacob Wright, Brighton pair Freddie Simmonds and Jamie Mullins, as well as Callum Osmand (Fulham), Ethan Wheatley (Man Utd) and Charlie Whitaker (Everton).
The nominees have been selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel. The panel will also decide the winner, which will be announced on Friday, October 11 at 10am.
Congrats, Harry!
