Albion Women were defeated 2-1 at Hull City in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division on Sunday.
Hannah George pulled one back late on for the Baggies following two Hull goals, but the skipper's header proved only to be a consolation effort as the hosts recorded all three points.
Albion are back in action on Sunday, October 13 for their Black Country Derby tie at The Hawthorns against Wolves.
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still made several changes to the side that beat Northampton on penalties last week with Anna Miller, Izzy Green, and Olivia Rabjohn all restored to the XI.
The Tigresses made the perfect start to the encounter - Hope Knight scoring after just three minutes of action at The Easy Buy Stadium.
Albion waited patiently for their chance to respond and almost did later in the half. Izzy Green nearly smuggled the ball over the line after meeting Rabjohn’s corner, but Hull somehow managed to clear their lines.
Just minutes later the visitors caused more problems, this time through Simran Jhamat whose effort was blocked by a retreating Hull defender on the goalline.
Despite the Baggies’ efforts, the Tigresses made it two in the second half. Helen Lynskey’s cross deflected cruelly past Miller into the net.
After having a chance from Ellie May cleared off the line, Albion replied immediately from the resulting corner as George glanced Olivia Rabjohn’s delivery past the stranded Hull stopper.
The Baggies pushed for an equaliser, but were shut out by the hosts who remained resilient in the latter stages.
