Isaac Price says “grit and determination” was on show in abundance at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies secured a crucial 1-0 victory over QPR in the Sky Bet Championship thanks to Adam Armstrong’s first-half penalty.
The major talking point of the day came on the stroke of half time when Darnell Furlong was shown a straight red after colliding with Koki Saito.
Despite being down to ten for the entirety of the second period, Price’s side saw out the game after a tremendous collective effort in defence.
The Northern Ireland international believes it’s was a massive performance and triumph.

He said: “It was a massive effort today to get three points and it shows what sort of squad we have.
“We knew it’d be difficult in the second half. Going down to ten is never easy, but I thought we dug in really well. We’ve got some really good leaders in our team and that helps when you go down to ten. We’re buzzing with the result.
“I think we were all a bit frustrated in the first half. We didn’t really play the way we wanted to play and we were making quite a few mistakes.
“We got the goal but then the red card came and it felt like a kick in the teeth. I thought we responded really well though and we showed great character.

“We knew we wouldn’t have as much of the ball in the second period as what we usually do, but it was about staying together as a team and helping each other. It helps when you’ve got players like Kyle Bartley and Torbjørn Heggem at the back who are strong and communicate well. They were fantastic at that and Joe Wildsmith slowed it down in goal when we needed him to.
“I’ve always loved the defensive side of the game, as well as the attacking side. I’ve always thought of myself as a player who wants to do everything in the game. I love getting back and helping the team, especially when we’re down to ten.
“It’s a massive result for us. Most people know we’re a footballing side and we’ve got a lot of technical players. Sometimes, teams lack that extra grit and determination. Today, that was shown more than anything. If we can combine the two, we’ll be a team that is really hard to beat.”
