James Morrison reacts to Cardiff City draw

James Morrison is interviewed after Albion's draw at Cardiff

James Morrison believes Albion did more than enough to take home three points from their encounter with Cardiff City rather than just one.

The Baggies drew 0-0 with the Bluebirds in the Welsh capital on an afternoon where both sides created several goalscoring opportunities.

Morrison, taking charge of his first game for the club, says he enjoyed the experience of leading the team, but admitted he was left frustrated by the final score.

He said: “I enjoyed being on the sideline today, but I’m really frustrated that we couldn’t get the win.

“I felt as though the performance was there, but it just lacked that final last bit. I feel that’s the story of the season. The chances we had, we needed to be more clinical and finish them off.

“I feel as though the team did more than enough to win today. We knew that Cardiff were fighting to stay in the league and they’d come at us. There were times where they had their chances.

“I think we conceded too many fouls and that brought pressure on ourselves, but the defenders defended towards the end and I’m happy with that.

“I wanted us to play to win that game. The finishing touch was lacking.

“I felt as though the game was going to be a bit end-to-end. Coming from recent weeks where chances were limited, I felt that we created some scenarios in the final third today. We were just lacking that final pass, the right decision or getting shots off.

“I felt that we did enough to score a goal, but it wasn’t to be.

“The supporters came down here today in their numbers like they always do and I just apologise to them because we couldn’t get the win that we all wanted. I want to thank them for their support, like always.”
