Jayson Molumby started for the Republic of Ireland, playing for just under 70 minutes in their UEFA Euro 2024 qualification clash against France on Thursday evening.
Stephen Kenny's side were beaten 2-0 at the Parc des Princes, with Aurélien Tchouaméni and Marcus Thuram both finding the back of the net either side of half-time.
Chiedozie Ogbene had the visitors' best chance of the evening, but saw his close range header saved brilliantly by Mike Maignan.
The result leaves the Republic of Ireland facing an uphill battle to earn their place at 2024's European Championships, having only earned one win from their four fixtures in Group B.
They'll have a chance to bounce back from their defeat in France on Sunday evening, when they host the Netherlands at the Aviva Stadium (ko 7.45pm).
