Jayson Molumby says he was delighted to be Albion’s matchwinner against Swansea City on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland international scored the game’s only goal in first-half stoppage time, slamming the ball into the bottom corner after great link-up play with Josh Maja.
The result leaves the Baggies sat on 10 points from their opening four games and yet to taste defeat in the second tier.
Molumby admits the players are incredibly pleased with their start to the season and says it’s up to them to keep “building on it” now.
The midfielder said: “First of all, I’m delighted we’ve got the win. Our unbeaten start to the season is great.
“Josh has put the ball on a plate for me, but I’ve probably missed a few of those in my time. I was obviously really happy this one went in.
“Josh is so easy to play with and he’s so intelligent as a footballer. He makes it so easy for you to play with him. His movement, his control and his technique is so good.
“I don’t think anyone was expecting him to play it back to me and lay it on a plate.
“I’m an emotional player. It’s been a long six or seven months for me. I’m back in the team and the team is winning so I’m buzzing. All we want to do as players is win games.
“We were good in the first half but we knew they’d make changes in the second half. We probably just needed to deal with a bit better on the pitch.
“We’re really good at sticking to our gameplan and we’re really tough when it comes to not giving goals away when we’ve gone 1-0 up. Credit to boys. The attitude and desire to keep a clean sheet is massive, especially at home.
“We’re delighted with our start. There’s no denying it. Even the Leeds game, we probably should’ve beaten them for me.
“Two clean sheets at home is massive. We want to make The Hawthorns a tough place to come and we’ve done that in the first two games. It’s about building on that now.”
