Baggies captain Jed Wallace recently welcomed West Bromwich Albion and England Blind footballer Eesa Amjid to the club's training ground, as Eesa prepares to represent his country at the 2023 IBSA World Games.
The duo discussed Eesa’s remarkable journey in blind football so far – from taking up participation in the sport as a nine-year-old with The Albion Foundation, to scoring for England as a teenager.
After introducing Jed to blind football and putting the skipper through his paces with a blindfold on, Eesa looked ahead to the IBSA Games and laid out his aspirations for the tournament, with England facing Germany, Argentina and China in the group stages.
Hosted in Birmingham, the 2023 IBSA World Games is a multi-sport event for blind and partially sighted athletes, taking place from 14-27 August 2023 across the region.
West Bromwich Albion and The Albion Foundation will be represented by Eesa Amjid and Selina Prieto at the games in Men’s blind football and Women’s blind football, which is to be played at the University of Birmingham.
More information can be found here, with tickets available to purchase for Eesa’s first match against Germany on Tuesday, August 15.
