Jordy’s Story: HATCH Project helps step into employment

Jordy smiles, talking to the HATCH Project Coordinator during his shift at the Albion storage warehouse.

“It’s been a dream come true!” — Jordy Webb reflects on his program with the Albion Foundation’s HATCH Project.

What do you do when you just can’t seem to break into the world of employment as a young adult? That’s what the HATCH Project is for.

This Albion initiative helps people gain valuable first-hand experience in real-life working environments, build impressive CVs, and learn important lessons around etiquette in the workplace.

Participants will take on a four-week paid work placement with one of our partners, with a guaranteed interview at the end.

Jordy has just finished his placement at the Albion storage warehouse, where he was responsible for stocktaking.

“The stocktaking is what I’ve really enjoyed… I’m hoping to get a full-time job at this place because every single second has been absolutely brilliant,” Jordy said on the last day of his placement.

Tom Lane, HATCH Project Coordinator, said: “The feedback we’ve had has been amazing, so absolutely, really proud of Jordy."

The program is available for people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment, or training. Participants will join one of our multiple cohorts that run consecutively throughout the year.

“Around 40 per cent of our participants have gone straight into further employment, which is something we’re really proud about too.”
