Albion academy graduate Jovan Malcolm says it's a "dream come true" to score on his senior debut.
The Baggies forward was introduced to the action after an hour at The Hawthorns and went on to head home Carlos Corberán's side's fourth and final goal of the night in their Emirates FA Cup third-round replay victory over Chesterfield.
And the 20-year-old insists the moment is one he will both cherish forever, and use as motivation in an effort to make further first-team appearances.
Malcolm said: “It’s a dream come true for me.
“It hasn’t quite settled in. I’ve been here so many years and tonight was the perfect way to cap my debut off.
“We reported so early today, so I’ve been through all the emotions before the game so as soon as I came on, I knew I had an opportunity and that I had to take it.
“Taylor’s done that cross so many times through the years so when I saw him on the ball, I just thought I’d peel off around the back of my man.
“It was a 50-50 so I knew I’d have to try and bully him and I just got up there and won the header.
“My family and friends were all in the box tonight and my celebration was for them.
“It was surreal when I went back into the changing room.
“All the support I’ve had from the players coming in and training with them has been amazing and they’ve made it easier for me to integrate with the rest of the squad.
“It’s just about working hard grafting every day.
“The hard work starts now, though. Even out there today I felt like I had so much more to give, so much more to do to get to the level I want to reach.”
