Karlan Grant described himself as a “different animal” this year after scoring in Albion’s win at Hull City.
The forward bagged his third away goal of the campaign during the important triumph at the MKM Stadium, cutting inside and shooting into the roof of the net from the left side of the box via a kind deflection – his eighth goal of his career against the Tigers.
Grant, who has delivered several eye-catching performances so far in the 2024/25 campaign, has become a firm fans’ favourite this term and believes he’s showing the supporters what he’s all about.
He said: “I spoke about my record against Hull to people at the club the other day. I’ve got a decent record against them. I’m just buzzing and buzzing with the win.
“It’s definitely my goal, one hundred per cent. It was on target, the defender just helped it on the way.
“I like cutting in from the left and getting shots off with my right. It’s been a while since I scored one like that and that’s been frustrating. I like being in those areas.
“I didn’t connect with it as well as I would’ve liked to, but if you don’t shoot then you don’t score. I saw the space and when I was there, there was only one thing I was thinking.
“Scoring two early goals gave us a lot of confidence. We haven’t really been scoring lately, so to get those two goals was a big boost for us.
“It was a tough game overall, but like I say, I’m just delighted to get the win.
“They caused us a few problems and we made one or two mistakes which gave them opportunities, but sometimes you need a bit of luck and luck hasn’t really gone our way a lot recently. That win is great and it feels like it’s been a long time coming because we don’t like drawing games.
“It’s huge for us going into the break. You don’t want to lose or draw going into the break because it’s two weeks with no football where you’re just thinking about the game. We can breathe a bit now, which is a positive.
“It’s nice to hear the fans singing my name. I think they are seeing what I’m bringing to the team and I think I’m a different animal this year. Long may that continue.”
