Albion Women Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has challenged her side to be more “clinical” following their defeat to Burnley in the FA WNL Northern Premier Division on Sunday.

The Baggies' three-game unbeaten run toppled by three second half goals from the promotion chasing Clarets.

The hosts did create good opportunities to score, and while the boss has tasked her team with taking more chances, she also praised certain other elements of their performance.

She said: “I thought we made it really difficult for them in the first half obviously going in 0-0 at the break. I thought we defensively were excellent.

“We were hard to beat and I think we could have been better on the regain in-possession. There were some positive moments we can take out of it, and definitely some stuff that we need to work on in terms of in-possession.

“I thought second half we had two really good chances. If one of them goes in at one- nil, I think it's a different game.

“We need to be a little bit better, and a bit more clinical in around the box. But credit to Burnley, they’re a good side and today their quality got them a win.”

Midfielder Kate Evans agreed with the gaffer and, despite disappointed by the result, expressed her delight to have played plenty of minutes recently.

Evens added: “It's been good to be back in the side and get some minutes in the legs, helping the girls get some good results over the last couple of weeks.

“We’re frustrated. To be honest, I think we played really well. We kept them out until late on.

“They scored their late goals. It wasn't really a 3-0 game and we did really well out of possession. We created a couple of opportunities at the end, if we’d have taken advantage of those it might’ve been a different outcome.”

Albion now have their attentions turned towards a Black Country Derby against Wolves at the Molineux next weekend.

Siobhan said: “It’ll be a difficult game, again, the quality that they have, but we back ourselves. They came here in the cup before Christmas and we got the win on penalties.

“So we have to take confidence from that. We have to take the confidence from our last two games and we'll give it everything to get something out of the game.”
