Albion's PL2 side were held to a goalless draw at Leicester City on Monday night.

Richard Beale's boys looked bright in stages in the East Midlands but, sadly, were unable to find the all-important breakthrough.

Although the teams couldn't be separated at the halfway mark, it was an encouraging first 45 by the young Baggies.

Fenton Heard had two presentable chances - following up after a trialist had forced a save out of the Foxes shot-stopper only to send an effort straight at him, before running onto Michael Parker's cross from the left to let fly inside the area.

Again, though, the goalkeeper stretched enough to deny the Albion attacker on the goal line.

At the other end, Leicester hit the post and forced Ben Cisse into a few saves, but neither found that decisive break going in at the interval.

It was Heard once more who came closest for the away outfit in the second period, slicing an opportunity wide of the target.

Cisse made a handful of big saves between the sticks as Leicester also went for the winner. He thwarted a one-on-one chance after an attack down the left flank, before going on to make an impressive double stop in the latter stages.

In truth, it was a night where both defences came out on top. The draw leaves Albion two points off the play-off positions having played one match fewer than some of their closest rivals above them.

ALBION: Cisse, Williams, Hall, Diomande, Parker, Mandey (Iddrisa 61), Crowther, Heard (Humphries 86), Whitwell, Trialist (Nelson 53), Sule (Ranger 86).

Sub: Brady (GK).
