Four Albion players featured for their respective loan sides over the weekend, as they continued their fight to reach differing targets across the divisions.
For forward Modou Faal and Sky Bet League Two promotion chasers Walsall, they had to settle for a point from their trip to Colchester United. The Gambian target man started the match and played 74 minutes in Essex on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Allen had given Faal’s team the lead heading into the break but Cameron McGeehan’s effort three minutes after the restart meant both teams played out a 1-1 draw and would share the points at the JobServe Community Stadium.
The result leaves the Saddlers just a point outside the fourth-tier play-off places with a game in-hand.

Elsewhere in League Two, there was nothing in fellow academy graduate Jamie Andrews’ match either - with his loan club Grimsby Town also taking a point from their travels against Gillingham.
Another 1-1 scoreline was how events concluded at Priestfield Stadium too, as George Lapslie cancelled out Donovan Wilson’s effort for the Mariners within the first 15 minutes of the match.
Midfielder Andrews replaced skipper Gavan Holohan for the remaining 16 minutes in Kent, with a share of the spoils keeping David Artell’s men six points above the relegation zone.
There was disappointment for attacker Karlan Grant and Cardiff City during Saturday’s early kick-off in the South Wales derby - with Swansea City running out 2-0 winners on home soil.
Grant started the match - his 35th appearance of the campaign - and played the full 90 at the Swansea.Com Stadium, but his Bluebirds team-mates were well beaten by Luke Williams’ side.
Liam Cullen’s 36th-minute effort put the hosts in the driving seat heading into the second 45, and having been on the right side of a stoppage-time strike the game before, this time Cardiff were undone by one as Jamal Lowe’s 93rd-minute goal ensured the points would remain in Swansea.
Outside of the EFL, young shot-stopper Ronnie Hollingshead was between the sticks for Alvechurch once again as he enjoyed a shutout and three points from his team’s 1-0 home win over Stourbridge.
A 49th-minute penalty via Jaanai Gordon sealed victory for the “Church”, and an important triumph which lifted them up to 13th place in the Southern League Premier Central.

Lastly, defender Ethan Ingram did make a return to Salford City’s squad for their League Two clash with Morecambe, but was an unused substitute in their 3-1 home win. The Ammies are currently 20th in the standings.
