Seven West Bromwich Albion players were in action away from their parent club over the weekend.
Starting in the Sky Bet Championship, striker Karlan Grant played the full 90 for Cardiff City as they fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Norwich City.
Christian Fassnacht put the visitors ahead, but the hosts went in 2-1 up at the break courtesy of strikes from Josh Bowler and Callum Robinson.
It looked as though the points would be staying with Grant’s team, however two Norwich goals inside the final eight minutes from Ryan Wintle (OG) and Adam Idah inflicted defeat on the Bluebirds.
Elsewhere in the second tier, midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman came on as a second-half substitute for Bristol City who drew 0-0 at QPR.
The 21-year-old replaced Andi Weimann on the hour in the capital.
There were three Baggies youngsters in action in Sky Bet League Two.
Forward Mo Faal completed the entirety of Doncaster Rovers’ 2-0 reverse at AFC Wimbledon.
Ali Al-Hamdi bagged a brace for the home team, who also had two players dismissed after the Iraqi’s second – Huseyin Biler and Omar Bugiel both seeing red.
Defender Ethan Ingram also got another 90 minutes of senior action under his belt for Salford City who were narrowly beaten 2-1 by promotion-chasers Mansfield Town at the Peninsula Stadium.
Jordan Bowery gave the Stags the lead in the north west, but Matt Smith pulled Salford back on level terms. The visitors’ winner came before the break, with Davis Keillor-Dunn notching the all-important effort.
Finally in the fourth tier, midfielder Jamie Andrews played the first 58 minutes of Grimsby Town’s 3-2 victory at home to Morecambe.
Andrews was replaced Harry Clifton at Blundell Park with the score at 2-1 to the home side. Adam Mayor had put Morecambe in front early on, but goals from Danny Rose and Kieran Green handed Grimsby a slight advantage.
That lead was extended a minute after Andrews was swapped for Clifton when Rekeil Pyke made it three. Joshua McKiernan grabbed a consolation for the Shrimps late on, but it proved to be little more than that as Andrews’ team secured a vital victory.
