The opponents
Cardiff City are enjoying a splendid start to the season and sit just outside the top six of the Sky Bet Championship ahead of Albion's visit on Tuesday night.
The Bluebirds are seventh in the division, just two points and two positions behind the Baggies having picked up eight victories and three draws from their 17 games.
The side from South Wales have only been beaten once in their last five matches and claimed an impressive 2-1 triumph at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon courtesy of two second-half injury-time efforts from on-loan Albion forward Karlan Grant and then Ike Ugbo.
Cardiff have fought off relegation in the last two campaigns, finishing 18th and 21st in 2021/22 and 2022/23 respectively, so battling at the top end of the table rather than the bottom is a welcome sight for supporters.
Erol Bulut, the 48-year-old former Fenerbahce, Olympiakos and Eintracht Frankfurt player, is the boss. He was appointed in June and has previously managed a host of clubs in Turkey, including giants Fenerbahce. Bulut has wasted no time winning the hearts of the home fans and will be determined to see his side pick up a sixth win in nine in the league at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.
One to remember
Albion recorded a thumping triumph down in the Welsh capital in September, 2021.
Karlan Grant, Curtis Nelson (OG), Alex Mowatt and Matty Phillips all found the net for the visitors as the Baggies claimed a convincing 4-0 win.
The most memorable goal of the night was Alex Mowatt's screamer in the second 45.
