Michael Hefele has joined Carlos Corberán’s backroom staff from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.
The recently-retired central defender claimed promotion to the Premier League as a player at The John Smith’s Stadium, before returning to combine coaching with an ambassadorial role.
Hefele, 32, replaces Jaime Monroy, who has departed for personal reasons, as First Team Assistant Coach in Carlos’ staff.
Corberán said: “I would like to welcome Michael to The Hawthorns as a member of my staff. I know him personally from my time at Huddersfield and look forward to working alongside him again.
“Michael has all the attributes required to join my team and I know he will provide a valuable contribution as we work together as a club to improve.
“I, of course, wish Jaime well in the future. Michael is a highly-capable replacement who I know will be an excellent addition to work alongside Jorge, Damia, James and Gary.”
