Albion are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Mikey Johnston from Celtic for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
The Republic of Ireland international – the club’s 10th arrival of the summer transfer window – has signed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns.
Johnston, who has 11 caps for his nation, scored seven goals in 20 appearances on loan with the Baggies last season.
And Mikey, who turned 25 in April, says he’s “buzzing” to be back.
“I’m really happy to be here,” said the popular winger.
“Driving down the M6 last night I couldn’t stop smiling and I’m buzzing to be here.
“From day one here I got off to a really good start, the fans took to me, and I took to them right away.
“I felt the love the full time I was here last year and I’m just buzzing to be back.”
Head Coach Carlos Corberán said: “Mikey is a player who needs no introduction to this club, and I am happy he is back with us.
“The impact he made with us last season cannot be underestimated and he adds proven quality to our squad.
“At just 25 his best years are still ahead of him, and this is a signing which shows the long-term ambitions of our club.
“Mikey has shown his commitment to the club and its fans, who I am sure will be excited to see him back in our shirt.”
Bilkul Football Group CEO and Sporting Director, Andrew Nestor, added: “Mikey was in great demand, so we are delighted that he viewed returning permanently to the Albion as the right destination for the next stage in his career.
“We all saw from the way he performed and carried himself here last season that he is the type of player that we want at this football club. Mikey's arrival compliments our squad and the other transfers we have made this summer.
“A lot of credit goes to the club’s football operations and recruitment for bringing Mikey here on loan last season. I’m so pleased we have been able to get this deal over the line and bring him back to The Hawthorns.”
