Okay Yokuslu says his first goal for West Bromwich Albion couldn’t have come at a better time for two very separate reasons.
The Baggies midfielder forced home an 85th-minute winner against Blackpool on Tuesday night at The Hawthorns.
Yokuslu celebrated by placing the ball under his shirt with his wife close to giving birth to their baby boy.
And the midfielder described the moment as a “very important one” for both his family and his football club.
Okay said: “It was a very emotional moment for me, scoring the goal at the end of the game.
“It was an important goal for my family. As you can see from my celebration, my wife is pregnant and we are waiting for our little baby boy any time soon.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time for my family and I, but also for my team and my team-mates because it was so important that we got the win.
“We worked really hard and we completed well. We need to carry on producing performances like that for the rest of the season.
“We want to change our fortunes, and hopefully it all starts from that victory against Blackpool.
“All of my team-mates, all of the fans and all of the staff want better results. We have to keep on competing.
“I would like to tell the fans that we are working really hard with the new coach and we are a good group of players and we are going to try our best to make sure we get better results.
“From the first day, the new coach has tried his best to improve us. We’re really working hard to be a better team.
“Every player knows exactly what they have to do when they step on the pitch, including me.
“We had a plan against Blackpool and we stuck to it and got three points.”
