Albion won 3-0 against Oxford United in their penultimate pre-season fixture at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night.
Karlan Grant’s second-half double, combined with a late Oxford own-goal, was enough to earn the Baggies a victory over their Sky Bet League One opponents.
Next up for Steve Bruce’s men is Hertha Berlin at The Hawthorns this Saturday for their final friendly ahead of the new campaign.
The soaring summer heat probably played a part during an opening half of few opportunities, with Oxford creating the only two chances of note.
James Henry curled a free-kick wide for the hosts on the 25-minute mark and Jodi Jones also forced David Button into a block from close-range, but it remained goalless going into half-time.
Albion created more after the interval and first worked Jack Stevens through Jayson Molumby’s volley.
John Swift then tapped a low shot wide shortly before the visitors took the lead, Grant racing through and slotting under the goalkeeper in front of the 639 travelling supporters.
Seven minutes from time Grant took advantage of some pinball in the box to head home his second and all but secure a comfortable win.
And the scoreline was rounded-off with an own-goal following Darnell Furlong’s dangerous low cross.
