Albion's PL2 side added another point to their tally to maintain their unbeaten start after playing out a goalless draw with Sunderland on Friday night.
Jovan Malcolm had the Baggies' best chance on the night, firing just wide of the top corner while Ellis Taylor smashed the inside of the post for the away team at the other end.
But neither could break the deadlock at Keys Park, as Richard Beale's men stretched their undefeated run to three matches at the start of the 2023/24 season.
Despite a strong presence of U21s players in the Baggies starting XI, it was the visitors who threatened most during the opening exchanges.
Harrison Jones shot over from the edge of the box, while Ronnie Hollingshead was forced into a low save on his first start of the season to keep wide man Taylor’s strike out of the net.
The Baggies’ attacking threat was limited in comparison. Reece Hall nodded a back-post header wide of the target, Malcolm forced Young into a good save, and Love should’ve edged Beale’s boys ahead before the half-time whistle.
A mistake in the Black Cats defence gifted Harry Whitwell the chance to feed the tall target man on the edge of the box. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough accuracy in the effort as Young gathered with ease.
There was much more energy at the start of the second 45 from the Baggies, with Love looping a header onto the roof of the net and Malcolm rasping a strike just wide of the top corner.
Sunderland came much closer to breaking the deadlock, rattling the inside of the spot via Taylor’s rasping shot, and the visitors wrestled the game back in their favour as they pushed for a winner.
However, the goal eluded both teams and while the game ended goalless, the point helped the young Baggies up to seventh place in the Premier League 2 standings heading into next week's fixtures.
