Albion's PL2 side fell to a disappointing defeat to Derby County on Monday afternoon.
Kei Robinson's first-half strike proved the difference between the teams in a blustery encounter at Albion's training ground HQ.
The result sees Albion stay in 19th place, with 12 points from 12 games so far this season.
The Baggies started the stronger of the two sides, forging several promising openings from wide areas without truly testing the Rams' defence.
Derby did craft a chance of their own shortly after through a corner, but Tyrese Fornah's effort went harmlessly wide from the edge of the box.
An even closer call came in the 15th minute, when a cross from the right almost caught Ted Cann out, only for the goalkeeper to acrobatically tip it onto the post before the Baggies managed to clear.
The visitors were growing in confidence, and but for a smart low save from Cann, would've taken the lead through Tony Weston.
But they didn't need to wait much longer to break the deadlock, with Robinson poking home from close range after a corner wasn't cleared in the Albion box.
The second period started in lightning quick fashion, with Albion seeing a Cole Deeming free kick flashed wide, before the visitors had the ball in the back of the net at the other end, only for the offside flag to deny them.
The Baggies were much improved as the second period continued, and were a whisker away from levelling after Layton Love saw his strike shave the base of the post from 10 yards.
Akeel Higgins was causing problems for the Rams defence on the left flank, and threatened a deserved equaliser after cutting on his right foot to fire at goal, but Jack Thompson was equal to the winger's effort from the edge of the area.
Albion were continuing to dominate, but couldn't find the cutting edge required to get themselves on level terms heading into the final 20 minutes.
The visitors threatened on the break, and should have netted a second after catching the Baggies in transition, only for Lennon Wheeldon to blaze over with only the goalkeeper to beat.
It was Wheeldon who would spurn another opportunity to put the Rams out of sight in the 87th minute too, once again firing over after he was played in on the right side of the box.
The Baggies pushed to try and find an equaliser, but ultimately came up empty, ensuring the points would head to the East Midlands.
