Albion's youngsters were defeated by Manchester City on Friday night.
A goal in each half, courtesy of Kane Taylor and Micah Hamilton, ensured the host were victorious at the Joie Stadium in the 21s' penultimate game of the 2023/24 campaign.
There were starts for senior pair Josh Maja and Pipa in Manchester, as both completed 62 minutes.
In truth, the first 45 had little to talk about from a Baggies perspective with only Ollie Bostock going close to breaking the deadlock - sending a shot from the edge of the box straight at home shot-stopper True Grant.
City dominated the ball and eventually made their possession count just before the break. It was a simple goal in the end as Taylor poked in a rebound from a few yards out, after an initial shot from a home player left visiting goalkeeper Ben Cisse stranded on the floor.
A goal down at the interval, but Albion made a good start to the second 45 - Jovan Malcolm rifling a fierce effort just wide of Grant’s right post.
Still, the hosts continued to dominate play and a fine goal doubled their advantage. Hamilton produced several step-overs on the left flank before forcing his way past substitute Alex Williams and curling an effort beyond Cisse for 2-0.
Reyes Cleary also made his return from a frustrating injury in Friday's Premier League 2 contest and his introduction almost created an opening, as the attacker bursted forward, evaded several defenders, but fired a shot wide of the bottom corner.
However, the result was never in danger and it leaves Richard Beale’s charges with one more game remaining when they host Leeds United at The Hawthorns on Monday, April 29.
