Last week our Gospel Oak Premier Kicks participants took part in a special “fixture within a fixture” against Preston North End Kicks.
This unique event was designed to reward eight participants from Gospel Oak Kicks for their positive attitudes and consistent attendance at sessions. The day was packed with activities and memorable experiences that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
The day began with a friendly seven-a-side match against Preston North End Kicks, where both teams showcased their skills and sportsmanship, creating an engaging and competitive atmosphere.
Following the match, the participants were treated to a behind-the-scenes stadium tour of Preston North End, where they got a glimpse into the life of professional football players.
After the tour, the group refueled with pizza and chips while relaxing in Preston’s entertainment suite. During this time, they logged onto Xboxes and Playstations to battle it out on FC25.
The excitement didn’t stop there; the participants then attended the men’s team Championship fixture between Preston and West Bromwich Albion, a close encounter that ended in a score draw.
The experience left a significant impact on both the participants and their families, one participant shared, “I loved wearing the proper kit; it felt like I was a professional player.”
Another expressed their gratitude for the warm reception, saying, “The Preston staff and participants made us feel welcome and at home.”
Parents were equally enthusiastic about the day. One parent commented, “My lads looked like they had a great time and were buzzing in the build-up to it all week.”
Another expressed appreciation for the updates provided throughout the day, stating, “The updates we got all day from Jordan and Connor gave me peace of mind and made my weekend seeing videos of them all playing.”
The group returned to the WBA Community Sports Hall with smiles on their faces and stories to share.
This event not only celebrated the participants’ dedication but also highlighted the power of football to bring communities together and create unforgettable experiences.
