Albion PL2 boss Richard Beale is hoping to see his side produce a winning performance against Sunderland on Monday night, in the first of three important games for the club’s youngsters.
The U21s host the Black Cats at Keys Park (ko 6pm) looking to cement a Play-Off position in the Premier League 2 Division 2 table.
Albion’s academy prospects currently sit in fourth place, level on 30 points with Aston Villa and Norwich City but with a game in hand on both.
And Beale hopes lessons learned from their Birmingham Senior Cup run show in Staffordshire as they look for a vital victory in their hunt for a top five finish.
“Stourbridge was a good game for the lads," said Beale.
“We couldn’t cope during the last 30 minutes, we didn’t deal with crosses well enough and that’s the beauty of those games.
“You’re going to be bombarded with cross after cross, long ball after long ball, and it was unfortunate the way we conceded the goals, but the value of that learning experience will stand the lads in good stead.
“The lads have got to be able to cope with those different factors and it was good for the lads to experience a vociferous crowd, having people close to the pitch, a different playing style and that’s the beauty of those games.
“But we approach every game in the same way and Monday will be no different.
"There’s three games left and we’re looking forward to giving our best in those matches, as well as giving the lads a platform to go on and, hopefully, play a couple of Play-Off games which would be lovely.”
