Romaine Sawyers believes Albion’s experience of Sky Bet Championship football will stand them in good stead for the physically demanding Christmas schedule.
The Baggies face six games in 22 days over the busy festive period – starting with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday and ending with the visit of Arsenal on January, 2 2021.
But Sawyers says the players are used to the hectic nature of festive football and insists the squad will have their sights set on recording as many victories as possible as they look to climb the Premier League tree.
“We’ve been used to the busy Christmas schedule having played in the Championship for the last two years,” said the midfielder.
“We’re equipped for this period.
“We’ve played so many games over the last two seasons, especially over the Christmas period.
“It’s a busy time for family off the pitch and a busy time for work on the pitch, so there’s a really good balance there.
“If you’re winning games, it’s the best time of the year because you can celebrate those victories with friends and family.
“We’ve got a job to do and we want to pick up as many points as possible over the busy period.”
