Semi Ajayi helped Nigeria to an impressive 1-0 win over tournament hosts Ivory Coast at AFCON on Thursday night.
The Baggies defender played the full 90 minutes at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.
The only goal of the encounter came from the penalty spot ten minutes into the second period, with William Troost-Ekong successfully converting the penalty.
The result leaves the Super Eagles second in Group A, level on points with leaders Equatorial Guinea and one point ahead of Ivory Coast in third.
Guinea-Bissau, who are Nigeria’s next opponents on Monday, January 22, are bottom of the standings having suffered two straight defeats.
