Semi Ajayi completed 90 minutes for Nigeria as they wrapped up their AFCON 2023 qualifying campaign with a thumping 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday afternoon.
The Baggies man played at the heart of the Super Eagles’ defence in Uyo where Victor Osimhen’s hat-trick, as well as further strikes from Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi and Samuel Chukwueze, secured a comprehensive triumph.
The result ensured Nigeria finished top of their group with 15 points from six matches, scoring 22 goals in the process.
The final tournament is scheduled to take place in Côte d'Ivoire between January and February 2024.
Elsewhere, midfielder Jayson Molumby was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland as they lost 2-1 at home to the Netherland in UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying.
